Title: dmenu of manjaro-i3x in virtualbox: Wait for the 32bit-version please!
Post by: oberon on 11. May 2015, 10:51:36
It has turned out that for some reason dmenu is not working in virtualbox in 64bit.
I will provide a 32bit-version of 1.02, hopefully tonight - as soon as THIS (https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=22708.msg200517#msg200517) is solved, too... :) Stay tuned!

I have put i3 on my netbook and it's pretty nifty, even though I still like Openbox better.

In my view, i3 becomes quite usable when Quickswitch is added. Quickswitch is a script that pops up the list of all open clients and allows switching between them. Without Quickswitch, easy cycling between open clients is sorely missing in i3.

There are two issues I found with Quickswitch. One is its font. Quickswitch's font is defined independently from DMenu, but it would make sense to have the same font for them. This is a minor issue, I'd say.

A bigger issue is that as the number of clients grows, the startup time for Quickswitch increases noticeably. No idea if this can be fixed.

personal i think a basic 'i3' is sufficient. not talking about possibility there is a lot... at the end people should learn to configure it...

mayby someone opens : https://www.penflip.com/

and make a project and others can add stuff too, for proposal you can put that on the iso :)

Thanks for the contribution! I have now installed it and will try it out... :)

I have moved my answer to the sticky i3x-thread since this is not related to the dmenu/virtualbox-topic anymore.
Please, everyone, lets post there for any further discussion on i3x!
Thank you
