Title: Binary repos for Lxqt Qt5 available !
Post by: Esclapion on 03. July 2014, 17:34:58
Hi all,

All the new packages resulting of the porting of Lxqt from Qt4 to Qt5, and a lot more (all the AUR packages intended for the future Manjaro Lxqt Qt5). 32 and 64 bits.

To use them, add at the end of you /etc/pacman.conf :

Code: [Select]
[repolxqt]
SigLevel = Optional TrustAll
Server = http://esclapion.free.fr/lxqt/$arch/repolxqt_qt5/

and do a :

Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -Syy

Note : for people having the current Lxqt Qt4 installed, don't use them to do an upgrade, the changes between Qt4 and Qt5 are too large.
(edit) see hereafter.

It is not possible to install QT5 above the LXQT 0.8.10 ISO?

How should we install a QT5 LXQT Manjaro?

But ISOs Lxqt-Qt5 will come. With a lot of chance, this week-end.

In the meantime I also tried an update in a VirtualBox without success : the LXQT session crashes immediately after login.

I will try john29's suggestion if I have enough time to test again this evening.

Otherwise I will just wait for the week-end.

Good job guys ! 8)

LXQT will soon replace LXDE on my old laptop used by the children... :)

Works here, with some annoyances- e.g. pcmanfm cannot set the desktop wallpaper.
Contents of ~/.config/pcmanfm-qt/lxqt/settings.conf

Code: [Select]
[Behavior]
ConfirmDelete=true
SingleClick=false
UseTrash=true

[Desktop]
BgColor=#00557f
FgColor=#ffffff
Font="Verdana,10,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0"
ShadowColor=#000000
ShowHidden=false
SortColumn=name
SortOrder=descending
Wallpaper=/home/panfren/wallpapers/Oia-Santorini-1050x1680.jpg
WallpaperMode=fit

[FolderView]
BigIconSize=36
Mode=icon
ShowHidden=false
SidePaneIconSize=24
SmallIconSize=24
SortColumn=name
SortOrder=descending
ThumbnailIconSize=128

[System]
Archiver=file-roller
FallbackIconThemeName=elementary
SIUnit=false
SuCommand=gksu %s
Terminal=konsole

[Thumbnail]
MaxThumbnailFileSize=4096
ShowThumbnails=true
ThumbnailLocalFilesOnly=true

[Volume]
AutoRun=true
MountOnStartup=true
MountRemovable=true

[Window]
AlwaysShowTabs=false
Height=480
ShowTabClose=true
SplitterPos=150
Width=640

But still, the background remains blank.

Hi,

No problem here. Maybe your wallpaper ? Try one of /usr/share/backgrounds.

(http://zupimages.net/up/14/28/53cz.png)

How do you set it ? With a right click on the Desktop, Desktop preferences ?

My settings.conf :

Code: [Select]
[Behavior]
ConfirmDelete=true
SingleClick=false
UseTrash=true

[Desktop]
BgColor=#000000
FgColor=#ffffff
Font="Droid Sans,11,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0"
ShadowColor=#000000
ShowHidden=false
SortColumn=name
SortOrder=descending
Wallpaper=/usr/share/backgrounds/oiseaumouche.jpeg
WallpaperMode=stretch

[FolderView]
BigIconSize=48
Mode=icon
ShowHidden=false
SidePaneIconSize=24
SmallIconSize=24

SortOrder=descending
ThumbnailIconSize=128

[System]
Archiver=file-roller
FallbackIconThemeName=OSDark

I found out the reason of the problem.
It had picked the theme from the previous lxqt, namely qtcurve - and qtcurve has issues with qt5 (and yes, qtcurve-qt5 is installed). After switching theme, it works.

UPDATE: I was able to give the desktop qtcurve feel by switching the theme to GTK+ (with qtcurve-gtk installed, of course).

Nice.  :) I tried qtcurve, but with no success for a good result. It's a pity. May be I will give it a new try.  ::)

It interests me.  ;)

Another issue: Dropping icons from the menu to the quicklaunch does not work. Doing the same with pcmanfm from /usr/share/applications works.

True, thanks.  :) I did a bug report about it. Look HERE. (https://github.com/lxde/lxde-qt/issues/216)

Some more:
- No battery icon/ panel plugin. Worked fine on the qt4 version.
- Sound volume goes over 100%, despite checking the corresponding box in the configuration. It also does not detect if something is plugged on, or off at the speakers/headphones juack of my laptop. Running the session with kmix replacing the sound plugin works fine.
- Trouble mounting some types of optical disks, e.g. a data DVD (works fine under KDE).

EDIT: The battery issue resolved. For some reason, lxqt-powermanagement is not autostarted by default.

Hi there, I did lxqt-qt5 build (clean net install build with Esclapion repo) but for some reason b1 archiver doesn't work for me, thou it worked just fine on old lxqt-qt4 build, when I open it from terminal I get:
Code: [Select]
[bojan@manjaro ~]$ b1
Extract: b1 x <options> <archive path> <extract path>
Create:  b1 a <options> <archive path> <target path>
Listing: b1 l <options> <archive path>

And is it just me, or qupzilla-qt5 have some strange scrolling? When I scroll some internet page down, it gets down few lines, then it jumps back up from where I have started scrolling, this isn't happening in qupzilla-qt4. And yeah, html5 doesn't work again for me :D

Cheers!

IT works in the ISO. html5 also, and I integrated the flash.

I will try it, but I'm bit lazy at the moment to download it :D I will post back when I install it.

Cheers!

Esclapion, would it be troublesome or unpractical to integrate b1 archiver into pcmanfm-qt? I don't have other GTK based archivers here and so have redundant "compress" and "extract here" context menu commands. I couldn't ingetrate b1 myself (probably because of wrong command line arguments I've tried for b1). Even if I can, with the next update of pcmanfm-qt my manual integration of b1 will be lost anyway.

Hmmm, I have a strong feeling that I should request this feature from the dev himself.

i have noticed this behavior as well. sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. i installed lxqt-qt5 on an external hard drive.
i am not really worried about it, because qupzilla-qt5-git 1.7.0 is a developmental version. version 1.7.0 of qupzilla is not even out yet, so the qupzilla developers still have time to fix that problem.

if you want to, you can file a bug report: https://github.com/QupZilla/qupzilla/wiki/Bug-Reports

Hi qanjaro,  :)

I never use this sort of program for myself, but thanks, it can be interesting.

In this area, more interesting for me would be a good replacement for gnome-keyring/kwallet. But for the moment, lxqt_wallet is absolutely not ready, I think.

Right, I've thought (possibly erroneously) that it could be integrated to lxqt_wallet. Or something like that!!

Sorry, but for now i compiled "qtLogout" by a dirty way (newbie here)

Code: [Select]
git clone https://github.com/piotrek91666/qtLogout.git
cd qtLogout/

I edited the file "commands.h"
changed "dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest='org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit' /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Manager org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager.Restart" to "systemctl reboot"

"dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest='org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit' /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Manager org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager.Stop" to "systemctl poweroff"

then
Code: [Select]
qmake-qt4 "INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr"
make
sudo make install

if someone can help to make this more clean ...

Really nice.  :D Commands for suspend and logout missing, otherwise I can do a package.

(edit)
Code: [Select]
systemctl hibernateworks.

Command for logout missing. openbox --exit don't work.

Eventually :

Code: [Select]
killall lxqt-session
but too empirical...  :(

Thanks. I was especially interested by the icons, but I don't have that in Humanity-wise...   ;)

(edit)

(http://zupimages.net/up/14/34/tlds.png) ?
I use the icon from "status" icons

oxygen

I found (today) a better system : I put the icon in /usr/share/pixmaps, so it's icon-theme-independent. Beginner also...  ^-^

yes i use this for octopi & searchmonkey

PS: Wise is gnome-icons dependent , so you can use "Icon=weather-few-clouds", it's present in gnome, oxygen so also faenza, wise...

- I don't have "humanity-wise", but i think it's depends on "gnome-icons", so when it don't find an icon, it looks in the "gnome" folder, and in "gnome/**x**/ status" you have some weather icons.
But the "pixmap" solution is the best.

- And in the same way, i copied a "system-reboot.png" icon in "/usr/share/pixmaps", because I don't have a "reboot icon" with faience & other gnome-dependent icon themes

Edit: i installed "gnome-colors" to test. so:
      "gnome-wise" depends on "gnome-colors-common" which depends on "gnome"

pixmaps is no perfect, because it don't appears in pcmanfm -> applications,  nor if you do a copy to the desktop.

I try now to put icons of differents sizes in hicolor/apps. Will see...

lazpaint is very good to work on pictures.  :)

I always found this feature of pcmanfm useless. I don't understand why they keep it in pcmanfm-qt, we have lxqt-panel-menu for that.
Try "Icon=weather-few-clouds", it gonna work even with humanity-wise

+1

Found this one somewhere. I had to make minor edit and use this one for weather-app in Enlightenment. Looks nice in menu and on panel.

Hello, thank you for your work on the repo.

I have been using repolxqt for some time now without a problem, but with today update lxqt is not starting any more.
After I have downgraded to previous packages (26 August I think) and all is fine.

This is happening in a system with kde installed and kdm starting lxqt.

Do you use THIS REPO (https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=16124.0), or the old one ?

I have changed today to the new one.

The libqtxdg-qt5-git link libQt5Xdg.so to libQt5Xdg.so.1 but starting lxqt with startlxqt I have this error:
lxqt-session: error while loading shared libraries: libQt5Xdg.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Now, yes, but there is some problem: if I go to sourceforge site I can download the package libqtxdg-qt5-git-0.5.3.30.gf0c73ca-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz but if I try to update the system I have this:

Code: [Select]

May be a transmission problem with this of repolxqt. This of AUR is maybe sane.

But problem persists in two different installations. I think it is a lxqt bug. It can be fixed only (temporary solution) with this:

Code: [Select]
ln -s libQt5Xdg.so.0.5.3 libQt5Xdg.so.1
