Numlockx
« on: 18. September 2012, 20:12:35 »
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to run the automatic activation of the keypad at bootup ?
I use manjaro-xfce-0.8.0-x86_64, numlockx is installed and then ?
I didn't find anything on it (I guess I looked bad...).

Many thanks.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Activating_Numlock_on_Bootup

Save the attached txt-file as ~/.config/autostart/Numlockx.desktop

Hi philm,

Thank you for the link but I have already had the opportunity to try unsuccessfully.
I mean : 2.2 to 2.7 --> I have no such file and 2.1 (startx) directly leads me to reboot in console mode ((and then I am unable to access the ~ /. xinitrc for remodify).
What do you mean by "Save the attached txt-file as ~/.config/autostart/Numlockx.desktop" ?
Which attached txt-file ?

I said, but it must be, I'm a beginner.

Okay, well I did not understand at all.
Anyway, I installed lxdm instead of lightdm and now it's all good.
Solved, therefore.

Too bad, I would have liked to know anyway.

1. You can try and enable numlock in your bios settings if supported.
2. If you are using lightdm you can call it from lightdm.conf, http://askubuntu.com/questions/67952/numlockx-no-longer-works-after-upgrade-to-11-10

I can easily turn on numlock at startup by activating it in the Settings -> Keyboard -> "Start Numlock at startup"
