volume resets to 100% on start up
« on: 27. April 2016, 22:56:19 »
Hi,
I'm wondering if there is a way to set/configure the default sound setting (or have the last setting remembered).  Mine seems to always start at 100%...which is much too loud.
Thanks,
John

add the following command to your cinnamon settings > startup programs
Code: [Select]
pactl set-sink-volume 0 50%it will set your default audio device (0) to 50% at login. Change 0 to another sink number to set another audio device to 50%.
Run
Code: [Select]
pactl list|grep Sink to see which device has what sink number.

Just in case this is helpful for anyone else with this issue...in my case, I discovered it seemed to be linked to the Enpass password manager which I have set to autostart.  When I went into the Enpass settings and unchecked the "Unlock Feedback" option (which plays a sound when unlocking the keychain), that has solved my problem.  Volume now remains where I left it last on start up.
