Until now it has escaped my notice that the package thunderbird-lightning-bin is no longer necessary as lightning is installed with thunderbird by default. So if you are as unobservant as me and still have this package installed you can safely remove it, lightning will still work and all you calendar settings will still be in place.
Fujitsu Lifebook AH532 laptop. Intel i5 processor, 16Gb ram, Intel HD3000 graphics, Intel Audio/wifi, Mint17, Ubuntu1404, Manjaro, all Xfce4.
