of course you can also check the size of your root directory to see if its run out of space too since the cache directory is by default in the root directory.

also you can edit sudo mousepad (or whatever you have) /etc/pacman.conf

and change the cache entry to a partition that has a lot more space also (my solution)

youll also need to uncomment the line by deleting the # at the beginning of the line as well

The problem was identified. Nothing to do with space. See last posts of Oberon and Rob.

The driver has two parts.
Now this (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cnijfilter-common-mg2400 - 2015-10-19 14:46) works, that is the "common" package, but not yet the other part of 2400 driver (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cnijfilter-mg2400series - Last Updated:    2015-09-21 22:34), which still gives that error and  needs update too.
Ok 8) ... Was not aware that you will need both ::)
I'm without a computer right now. Will adjust the other package when I'm back ... (and then check all those other Canon printer drivers based on this new information ;)
I had just adopted then recently when I realized that they had all disappeared from the AUR with the switch to AUR4 -the next step will be to actually get them to work properly ;) ;D
manjaro is addictive ::)
* manjaro-i3  * manjaro-cinnamon  * manjaro-deepin

Yes, the two packages are installed without problems.

Only that - although they seem to me exactly the same two packages that were enough to make the printer work in ubuntu-based systems, they are not enough in Manjaro. Some other package is needed or most probably some application needs to be started for the printer to work. I add an attachment with the settings just to illustrate my saying. (The error is when selecting "Print self-test page." Selecting "Print test page" sends the job to printer with no result, just like when trying to print any file.)

But that is beyond the scope of my specific topic, maybe I should open a separate one.

Is the CUPS service running?

You can start it with:
Code: [Select]
sudo systemctl start org.cups.cupsd
and you can set it to always start at boot with:
Code: [Select]
sudo systemctl enable org.cups.cupsd

No... The 'client-error-bad-request' still appears and jobs are sent to printer which then gets idle without any result.

The problem was that gutenprint was not installed.

I have the same printer installed in Linux Mint KDE in multi-boot on the same machine, and there it had a different driver specification.

In Manjaro: Canon MG2400 series Ver.4.00, in Mint: Canon MG2400 series - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.10-pre2.

Checking gutenprint in Pamac, it was not installed. After installing it and adding the printer again, also starting cups as presented in the question, the printer worked.

I wonder if it would make sense then to add Gutenprint as a dependency. Just not sure if this is manjaro specific... ???

That can be checked, but I don't know if in Linux Mint KDE for example,  Gutenprint was installed as a dependency with the driver or was on the system by default. One or the other should be the case in Manjaro.

Gutenprint caused a printer problem and if installed with the foomatic database stopped printing working the solution was to uninstall one of them. I believe Manjaro
as they had no control over these two drivers or when they would be updated to work together again decided to remove both of them.I think your right cannon printers need Gutenprint
