I hate when absurd useless security measures are foisted upon you, especially for something like a forum. Can someone please make it so I can set the password of my choosing, and not be bound by all these restrictions?

Also, do I seriously need to do image verification, plus two other forms of human verification for every post I make here? Talk about a PITA.

The image verification, etc. is just for your first few posts. It precludes bots & spammers.

We have a lot of members in the forums. I don't agee with the password methodology either, especially since it has now been shown that four unrelated words offers substantially more protection. But hey, that is the way the board is setup now. Besides, doesn't your browser cache it?

We are getting new custom forum software as soon as it is ready, so message PhilM about your gripes, and maybe they will be taken into consideration in the new forums.

Meanwhile, welcome to Manjaro. :D

I don't use browser password trackers, I want to be able to log in via another OS or computer, can't very well go around with a usb flash drive for a password tracker. I just put it in, then hope the forum just keeps me eternally signed in. But again, want to be able to log in via other computers/OS, and to be able to use passwords that I can easily remember for that.

How do I message PhilM?

Thankyou for the welcome  :D

Look up ^

I understand your annoyance, which is why Gaawd created text files to store all the crazy passwords that websites force us to create, but are impossible to remember because they ALL seem to have a different password convention.

Of course, we name the text file something totally unrelated, such as "piles of steaming horse crap that I have known" and hide it even from ourselves. If we are lucky, at some future point we may even be able to remember the name of that obscure text file--mine is usually the last one I guess it to be--and a day or so later we can again login to wherever. Life is grand!

I feel your angst! Aargh!  >:D

Hey man, have fun. If this is the biggest annoyance of your day, you got it made. :D
