Update broke theme
« on: 27. April 2016, 05:29:00 »
As stated in the blog post 4/26/16 this update broke the system tray drop down and tool tip styles. As a community edition, is it on us to fix the theme?

there are a lot of bugs after that update, been w8ing for someone to post about them but nothing so far... the most annoying is the volume control is now a very thin wight line that u can't see were the volume is at, and u have to really try and aim on the line for the mouse weal to change the volume. the dock right click is now light gray and it dose not highlight when mouse cursor hovers on the options, same hapens in firefox, on bookmarks or any drop down menu option.

Had the same problems and plank not showing as well. Installing and applying vertex-maia-themes and vertex-maia-icon-theme fixed all issues for me.

You can change themes either with lxappearance or bmenu. Lxappearance is found in the menu entry Customization > Appearance. Or type bmenu in a terminal and choose number 4 (Appearance).

OK, listen up! Here's the news....

GNOME.org updated GTK3 to version 3.20 just a week or so ago. In doing so, most themes created prior to 3.20 were broken. Theme artists are busy creating new themes, and converting a few of the old ones.

So you have a choice as users:
A) Continue to use broken themes
B) Change to themes that are not broken

IF you read the Manjaro Forum announcements, or IF you read any of the many posts similar to yours (all of you), you will find more information including suggested new Manjaro themes that may please you, THEN you can quit whining and get on with it.  >:D

We were all newbies, and that is no excuse for being unwilling or too lazy to read forum announcements or do a modest search on what has been posted and re-posted again, and again, ad nauseum. I have no time or patience for those who will not help themselves. I'm 64--time is short! Eek!  =(

My theme is broke but there are others--help me!  =  My plate is empty but the platters are full--feed me!  >:D

Your patience wasn't actually necessary. He got all the answers he needed. Even where he can change the themes and i didn't mind helping him.

Point taken Ves ;)
And i dont think we were being particularly specific - just being general about things. :-[
The problem is ... for someone who has issues ... is knowing WHAT to ask ... and also WHERE to find it ... the number of flailing loose ends available across the web ... and the fact much of it becomes obsolete advice pretty quickly compounds this.
To be fair, the Manjaro forum is pretty unweildy for someone who is new to it ... but a simple websearch will direct to you to relevant threads,

To some degree something like the GTK break, opens opportunity to see how many themes that ARE available .. A LOT!!! ... im SO tempted by https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/kdeplasma-applets-oblikuestrategies/ but then there are so many alternatives that look equally delicious :)

@c00ter ... time is ALWAYS short ;) ... and you had a chance to live events i would saw off several limbs to have experienced.

And I'm going to take a break from any theme-borked threads. I'm much rather hear about the ones that work, in case I want to once again mire myself in that incestuous cesspit GNOME.org led us into. But probably not until KDE publishes their next buzzkill. At least the Two Biggies take turns borking their DEs, ever noticed? I think KDE 5.7 is due sometime around the first part of July. GNOME might again be tolerable by then...

Aargh!  :o
