Hi @ManjaroCinnanmonFan & @oberon

Issues with the theme in xfce are fairly minor but include:

the window border theme corners are pixelated, not smooth
whiskermenu (used by most in xfce) requires a couple of modifications for usability.  The following changes to .gtkrc-2.0 work nicely for me:

# GTK theme
include "/home/[user]/.themes/Maia-Manjaro-GTK-v2/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"

# Font
style "myfont" {
    font_name = "Liberation Sans 10"
}
widget_class "*" style "myfont"
gtk-font-name = "Liberation Sans 10"

# Icon theme
gtk-icon-theme-name = "Moka"

# Toolbar style
gtk-toolbar-style = GTK_TOOLBAR_ICONS
#Right Side
style "darkback"
{
   bg[NORMAL] = "#494B4E"
   bg[ACTIVE] = "#1A1A1A"
   fg[NORMAL] = "#f9f9f9"

}
widget "whiskermenu-window*" style "darkback"

#Favorites "Box"
style "darktree"
{
   base[PRELIGHT] = "#436E65"

   #normal text
   text[NORMAL] = "#1A1A1A"
   #active text
   text[ACTIVE] = "#ffffff"
}
widget "whiskermenu-window*TreeView*" style "darktree"

I, also, made the following change to the main gtkrc line 1 for readability:

gtk-color-scheme = "base_color:#f9f9f9\

I find a base_color of #ffffff to be too stark for my old eyes....

Thanks gents!!!!

Thank you, rabideau!
Great if you can check the usability in Xfce, too!
What source have you installed exactly? Did you use my package? If not, have you installed gtk-engine-murrine? Well, you most likely have it as a dependency from another theme...
I have adopted you additions for the toolbar and whiskermenu and dimmed the white a bit 8) we don't want to hurt anyone :o 8)
The icons and font stuff we'll not specify directly in the theme of course...
I'll update the package and maybe you can report back if vertex-maia-themes 201602-04 looks better, even without your custom .gtkrc-2.0
Thanks a lot for your contribution! :)

@ManjaroCinnamonFan, I know that you have already greenified about 100 image files ;)
Yet, somehow gnome-screenshooter still manages to find a blue button somewhere ... ... ::)

[ btw, ever had the challenge to take a screenshot of a screenshooter? ??? ;D ;D ]

Looking very nice, @Ste! :)
Yes, it's always a pain with dark themes and browsers ::) Have you tried this strategy already? Works with some themes more or less at least...

Hi @oberon (& @ManjaroCinnamonFan)

Yes I am running the gtk-engine-murrine... I have tested the new master and it looks good to me on xfce.

The only issue I can see right now remains with the pixelization on the the window border corners.

I'll place further comments or issues here as I encounter them (note: I am continuing to run with my .gtkrc-2.0 modifications).  Oh and I am still using one of those awesome vector backgrounds....  O:-)

Do you get that pixelation with the regular Vertex theme also?

Of course you are! :)

I've been looking over this Github-thing (even created an account).  A bit overwhelming. So I might need some help here.

The Vertex-theme is a fast (very responsive) theme. It has been well developed: you can throw anything at it and it still looks good.  Even Libre-office looks good. Not many themes can do that.  So as a basis for modding it is ideal.

I am not that experienced as you might think.  Basically allot of trial-and-error, patience and some graphics-knowledge gets you a long way.
Every theme is build differently- and changed by allot of people- and usually messed up to the point that you wonder if every change is made to remedy the previous changes.

When I started theming (2007) things were much easier. Only GTK 2 and borders,title-bars and interface elements were real graphics.  These were easier to change.   GTK 3 changed al that.  Up to the point that I gave up theming all together.  When I recently refurbished my old macbook I was looking for a linux distro that was responsive enough. Ended up with manjaro -cinnamon. Better then Linux Mint's version.

So I ended up looking at the standard vertex theme and the maia icon-theme. And I thought I could do better.  So here I am theming again. I was not planning on releasing any of it. But I liked the result. Anyway, I hope to be able to contribute something to this wonderful distro.

About the font: I've always preferred Droid Sans as the default on my desktop

@manjarocinnamonfan  I personally like Liberation Sans for my old eyes....  :'(

On another note, the pixelated corners appear to be *.xpm files.  I tried smoothing the images to no avail.  Pixelation +1 me -1

Well, I do not know how to fix that. Can't find anything that would explain this.  I noticed that the Menda theme gives a green button. Perhaps you could find an answer there?

Nice, this theme looks really good!
And a question, just to make sure (maybe I'm kinda blind or so, ehehe): are the windows borders (+ the 'menu bar' inside the apps) a plain color or a 'fade' (or 'shade', dont know the right way to say this)?
Because I was thinking in making a JWM version, and the windows borders (JWM's own) only supports plain colors.
(But I guess I'm gonna give it try anyway, this is very nice indeed.)

Does this answer your question? (Not exactly sure what you need to know... ;) )

This is the theme in i3 (with AwOken icons), so no window frames at all are presen, and as you see, just flat colors. The gtk3 frames have a gradient, in gtk2/xfce I think they are plain? Would have to check that on my other partition ;)
Maybe you should just see what happens in JWM! ;D

Personally I'm not a fan of the metacity theme of Vertex. The buttons are to small (for my usability)  I'm planning on changing it for the Maia-manjaro theme. Something that blends in with the present window-title borders, something with the green in it (of course) and preferably slightly bigger buttons.

I'm calling out to you to present me with some idea's?
