@MadmanRB: well, we have updated it. Check for the new Maia gtk-theme.

Will the kde4 packages that are obsolete / no longer needed be removed?

I upgraded from kde 4 to Plasma 5 using the guide here in the KDE forums. I know I probably still have parts of KDE 4 installed. I just didn't know if they needed to be removed at some point.

Most of the parts that needed to be removed, don't coexist with Plasma 5 on the same system anyway.

Thanks, AJ. And thanks for putting up with all these noob questions lately.  ;D

I'm running KDE4 and plan on moving to Plasma 5 soon.  Was there any files or data files specific to KDE4 (ie, Kontact or KOrganizer) that needs to be saved prior to the switch?

Thanks.

Nope, you'll just need to move them from under .kde4/share to .config and .local depending on what it is your needing.

Not qt4, neither kdelibs or kdebase-runtime, who are still needed for various applications. What its gone is the "Plasma (4) desktop".

As for the Maia theme, it still looks awful pre beta at best when concerning GTK2 apps.
No scrollbars, no text on toolbars.
So yeah breeze is the only real option of a consistent look, that or use a GTK theme in KDE5

Well there is no more oxygen-gtk, its deprecated.
So that gives one little option.

Either that or ditch KDE, I am in favor of that one.

Did you try gtk-theme-maia and breeze-gtk (new with plasma 5.5) ?

oxygen-gtk was deprecated because gtk developers removed support for it...

Yes I did, again Maia is rather ugly in gtk2.
Its gtk3 port is okay.
