My first impressions: I love it!
The only problem (also present in the previous edition) is that brightness keys don't work on my Lenovo laptop (I had to use xbacklight to turn down the brightness). Actually, the volume keys don't work either (although they did work on the previous edition).

Go to Preferences --> LXQT settings --> Shortcut keys -->
Select the volume keys, modify and replace with your key board keys. (Mine works without needing this).
Same with brightness control.

How do I set application windows to pop up in left, not in center?
In Openbox, I did this in Openbox config. In LXQT, couldn't find it here (or forgot where to find it).
In the past, both Openbox, LXQT and Fluxbox opens app windows to left and top. Now they pop up in center.

Thanks.

Replying myself (after much twidling around)..
Go to ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml, add the line     "<center>no</center>" (starting line 27) to
Code: [Select]
  <placement>
    <policy>Smart</policy>
    <!-- 'Smart' or 'UnderMouse' -->
    <center>no</center>

Awesome! I installed 2016.03 a week earlier. How do I upgrade to 2016.04?
Note: I have been using Ubuntu for years... just warming up with pacman and its ways.

I'd guess by doing a "sudo pacman -Syu" since they say it's released.

I've another question: What's used for network management in the lxqt version?

Gonna download this now and give it a spin! Whoohoo!
Stupid Question: Is it possible to make the task window labels disappear so that only the icons of the open application is showing? One can do this in XFCE and Cinnamon. Just curious

Thanks eugen-b ;)

I am busy testing this release, and damn, it is amazing! Really enjoy the theming and such. The applications menu looks so pretty.
But my favourite part is alt+F2 :D
SUPER EXCITING! haha

Just a question, since I'm new to the Qt environment: Should one stay with Qt based apps? Are there any apps one should stay clear of that could induce system breakages?
I have a set of lightweight apps I usually install.

It is difficult to give a definitive answer, qt or not qt. I qould say qt apps are worth trying, but if you don't like the available ones, try a gtk2 app. I tried juffed and notepadqq from AUR but didn't like these text editors and switched to mousepad, but kwrite could also be ok if you need more coding functionality.
gtk2 looks and works fine, but gtk3 apps can sometimes look ugly, but they work.
The only hindrance to get rid of gtk3 entirely is nm-applet.

Some applications are already gtk2, et 2 or 3 gtk3. root account is also half-configured for gtk2. I worked on that to avoid ugly look.

What's to avoid to have a light system are qt4 applications (qt4 is not installed) and kde applications (kdebase-runtime also not). But it will not break your system.

@eugen-b and @esclapion Thanks for the advice :)

Great job @esclapion, this is really the best LXQt distro I have seen! Gonna install it today! Whoohoo!

OK, thanks, I'll try that.
I just wish I had another computer to install it on, as I don't want to touch my current Manjaro installations (XFCE on the laptop and KDE on the desktop), though it looks it might work like a breeze on my rather low-end laptop.

I've ran into a few issues :(
1) Compton use a lot of cpu power (nvidia driver)
2) splash screen non-existent?
3) plank and conky don't respond to icon theme changes
