Hi, my real name is Jonathan, I'm from Monterrey, México. A 17 years old student who tried Linux for the first time almost 2 years ago and fell in love with it. I like anime but don't consider myself an otaku. Physics and math are my favorite subjects. Used to be a distrohopper and desktophopper too. Now I'm on Archlinux (for my old desktop) and Manjaro (for the netbook), both with Xfce. My native language is spanish but I know a little of english, so if I make mistakes when I answer you, please forgive me.

Welcome WretchedEgg  , your English is just fine :)  And don't worry, people are from all over the planet here, so I suggest "grammar nazis" should be banned :D  jk .
I'm glad to see more and more younger new users of Linux , I wish I had found it earlier hehe.  Linux is spreading through generations now, one day the world?   :o

Hi to all of you.

I recently discovered Manjaro and decided to try the KDE version, i replaced Ubuntu. ManjaroKDE on this computer was faster than Ubuntu. That was a surprise since KDE by default should use more resources :)

Then i also replaced Xubuntu on a netbook i have with the XFCE version and wow what a difference in speed.

I really like Manjaro. Hope there will be a spotify package later on.

Allmost forgot to tell you i'm from Norway.

It` s really nice to see how many new users from all around the world join the Manjaro community to share their fun, problems, experiences and dreams.

I wish it would be that peaceful too in the world when so many different cultures, languages, nations and religions are together at one spot.....

Welcome tflovik in Norway! I'm glad (and not surprised  ;)) that you are noticing a kick up in speed on your machines after discovering & installing Manjaro - I found exactly the same thing. I used XP for 10+ years and only started exploring Linux distro's in December last year. I'm now running Manjaro Cinnamon on 2nd & Xfce on main business laptop & experiencing the same delight as you are. Rock solid like mount Kilimanjaro!

It's good to have some Nordic brothers joining in the forum & we look forward to seeing you around.

Go well.

Hi everyone! I'm Dave. I live in Durham, NC, USA and I've been using Manjaro since 0.8.1 -- which is not all that long ago, but I've noticed the forum has grown significantly since then! I suppose that makes me an old school Manjaro user  8)

I ditched Windows and started using Linux in 2008 when my roommate showed me Ubuntu 8.04. Was using that for a while, briefly tried Ubuntu Studio (8.10, I think?), then discovered Linux Mint back when Gnome2 was still an option. Was happy with that for quite a while, then started experimenting with other stuff and seeing just how much I could customize my desktop experience. Dabbled with AwesomeWM for a while, then ended up with Linux Mint XFCE for a good while. Finally got tired of dealing with having so much stuff "hidden" from me and wanted more control over what my computer is doing, so I jumped ship and started using Arch. I enjoyed Arch thoroughly - still think it's great - but frankly I had to put so much effort into configuring it and making sure it wouldn't break with every update that it just got tiring. Started looking around for "safer" Arch derivatives, and that's what led me to Manjaro. I expect I'll be with Manjaro for a long, long time to come  :D

What else? I'm big into music - got my bachelor's degree in Music Composition and Bassoon Performance, I play loads of instruments (a few of which I'm actually pretty good at), and right now I'm working on creating my own music programming language using Python.

My avatar is my 3 year-old greyhound, Barbara. She literally smiles like that when she's happy/excited.
